Vektr has a new functionality

VEKTR® will be Featured at the Upcoming IFA Show in San Antonio

VEKTR® will be featured at the upcoming IFA show in San Antonio.
The International Franchise Association will hold its 50th Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas February 5 – 8th, 2010. VEKTR® will be part of the big show. On Saturday, February 6th, one of the concurrent sessions from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. is entitled “Protecting the Brand: Conducting Brand Compliance Audits”. Dennis Parker will be one of the presenters and VEKTR® technology will be featured in his presentation.
The exhibit hall will be open from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th and from 12:00 noon until 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 7th. Come visit us in booth 361. Listen to a short presentation about VEKTR®, and give the prize wheel a spin to claim your exciting prize.

New Version of Blackberry

We have released a new version of the VEKTR® Blackberry code that does the following:

• Provides faster synchronization times.
• Allows you to attach more than 5 images per inspection.
• Improves the way in which attachments are handled on the Blackberry device.
• Allows you to Download, View and Close Work Orders.
• To access this new update, simply do a synchronization on your VEKTR® application.

The auto-update will download the new update directly onto your device. Once it finishes downloading, it will prompt you to reset your device. After the device comes back up, the new update will be operational.

VEKTR® now runs on state-of-the-art network infrastructure.

Nuvek® recently built a powerful new data center. We had expected to migrate VEKTR® over to this new facility at year end. One of the strengths of VEKTR® is its ability to communicate with third-party software systems via web services. Unfortunately, one of our customers’ web services went out of control yesterday, November 18, 2009, and flooded VEKTR® with so many connection requests that the site degraded and eventually failed. This outage was caused by a cascading access overload that had the same effect as a distributed denial of service attack. As a result, we finally took the VEKTR® site down and decided to migrate over to the new data center ahead of schedule. The new data center gives us many useful tools to prevent and deal with situations like the one that affected us yesterday. VEKTR® now runs on:

• Multiple blade servers rather than individual stand-alone server
• VMWare virtualization
• An operating system/services stack that allows semi-automatic integrated version updates
• The VEKTR® environment is now more robust, fault-tolerant and reliable.

VEKTR® is also much better positioned to move forward rapidly, embracing emerging technologies. In addition, VEKTR® sites can now scale to much larger sizes before server capacity becomes a constraint.
